One Thousand Paper Sharks

Paper Sharks is inspired by the traditional Japanese story of folding 1,000 origami cranes (千羽鶴) in order to make one’s wish come true. Instead of cranes, Paper Sharks supporters fold origami sharks with the wish of saving sharks around the world from extinction.

One Thousand Ppaper Sharks (千匹鮫) is a personal project of mine (in addition to organizing a collaborative online collection of paper sharks submitted by visitors worldwide). Anyone interested in taking on the 1,000 paper shark challenge along with me is invited to share their story by posting a comment to this page or by contacting me. I will be happy to add your project to the site!

Thank you for your support,

  1. I hope you haven’t given up on this magnificent project! My best friend loves sharks and I’m going to make a bunch for her birthday. Thank you for making and sharing this site! We love sharks!!

    • Hi Lauren,
Thank you so much, your kind comments mean more to me than you know. I have been struggling to try again to continue the project, which I do very much want to see to completion. It has just been hard not to give up with all the negative comments. Hearing your words of encouragement and love for sharks is something I really needed. Thank you again, I wish there were more people like you in the world 🙂
